Scrapitude Scrap-in-a-Box Mystery

Charlotte Hawkes of scrapitude.com is sponsoring a very scrappy mystery quilt beginning Tuesday, January 13.   Clues will be given every second Tuesday of the month through May.  All cutting instructions were given ahead of time, but since we have a month between clues, I plan to cut my pieces as needed for each clue.  Since there are many different size pieces to be cut, I have separated my scraps into various piles according to size and labeled them for what size to cut.  Here are my fabrics.  The lavender in the lower right corner is my medium, but I may change that one now that I see it in the picture.  It may not be quite dark enough.  The background fabric is a white on white.  I tried to choose lots of jewel tones for my scraps and many of them are batiks and ALL of these fabrics came from my stash!

Completed Quilt Top:  I changed my blender fabric from what is shown in the picture above to an orchid.

Downton Abbey Mystery

Love Bug Studios online site is sponsoring a mystery quilt to coincide with the 2015 season of Downton Abbey on PBS.  A new clue is released every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CST.  A list of 10 fabrics from the Downton Abbey line was introduced in three different colorways to choose from or you could choose your own. They were presented as Team Cora, Team Carson or Team Rose.  I chose Team Cora and I found 6 fabrics in my stash that were "close enough" to Cora's colors and I ordered 4 of the actual Downton fabrics.  Here are my fabrics.  Downton fabrics are top row; fabrics from my stash are on the bottom.

January 4 - Clue 1:  Manor House - We only had to make one of these.  Here's mine:

January 11 - Clue 2:   Lady's Tiara - We had to make 4 of these.

This mystery will continue through the entire season of Downton Abbey.

January 18 - Clue 3:  Sarah's Daring - We had to make 8 of these.

January 25 - Clue 4:  John's Loyalty -  We had to make 16 of these.

February 1 - Clue 5:  Sous Chef Daisy - an 8-1/2" block.  We had to make 16 of these.

February 8 - Clue 6:  Plucky Rosamund - We had to make 12 of these.

February 15 - Final Layout:  Here's my final layout.  We were given three samples and mine is not the same as any one of those, but similar.  It is on my design wall and the bottom row of blocks had to lay on the floor.  At this point it measures 72 x 92.  But I have also added a 6" red outside border all the way around since this picture was taken.
